UNPACKING CHICAGO RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES
Specializing in city living, sustainability, and personalized function and comfort
I’M HERE TO WALK YOU THROUGH THE PROCESS
I know the challenges that occur every day with small city spaces.
I’ve faced them too.
13 apartments and 1 home purchase later, I’ve figured out what works…and what doesn’t.
I love downtown Chicago and appreciate the energy and purposefulness city spaces provide.
By making your residence or business space somewhere you feel energized, inspired, and comfortable, I will make city living or work the absolute best it can be for you.
Let’s Make It Home!
True story: I moved between homes every two weeks growing up.
Hi, I’m Saz!
I’m a proud Chicagoan, Vermont-products snob (more on that later), and a professional organizer who built a successful organizing business after leaving a career in college admissions. While helping a friend pack up and move amidst a personal crisis, I reflected on just how difficult moving and transitions can be. I decided that night to start a business - helping people facing challenging transitions to get settled in their new space - and landed on the name immediately: ‘Making It Home’.
In my adult life I’ve moved 13 times in 17 years, and grew up moving between my (amazing & wonderful!) divorced parents’ homes every two weeks. Needless to say, it is important to me to make sure that a space feels like home.
Now, I help downtown Chicago residents and businesses who love this city, make functional use of their space to quickly settle in and enjoy their interiors within this fabulous exterior city we call home!
Cheers,
Saz
Meet Making It Home’s Mascot, Jade
Jade: “My servant will have to tell you all about me - I just can’t be bothered to…”
Jade is the stunning, fabulous, official mascot and unofficial CEO of Making It Home. Jade has made her home in every one of the 13 apartments we have lived in over the past 17 years. There is NO ONE who does comfort better than Jade, so what better mascot is there for Making It Home than her?

Five Fun Facts
-
I love lemons.
Yes, I LOVE them! Truly and wholeheartedly. I eat them whole (without the rind, of course) as one might eat orange slices. Delicious, tart, tangy, amazing. It doesn’t hurt that lemons are my favorite color too!
-
I am a huge sports fan!
From the Olympics (my first love) to cheerleading, give me a sport and I’ll watch it. If I could follow them all, I would! As I can’t, my nearest and dearest, at the moment, are college basketball, Formula 1 racing, college football, gymnastics, and surfing. But give me a great documentary about billiards? I’ll watch it in a second. There’s a new inspirational sports movie (my favorite movie genre) about golf? I’m in! As a former competitive cheerleader and rugby player, I guess it’s ingrained at this point, but I’m not fighting it!
-
I am a snob (for Vermont products).
Cheese that’s not 100% Extra Sharp Vermont Cheddar? Nope! Fake maple syrup? Or, come to think of it, any maple syrup that’s not 100% Vermont maple syrup? Hard pass. As a native Vermonter, I am very passionate and, admittedly, snobby about my beloved Vermont products. But for good reason! Honestly, go to Vermont, try a maple creemee, and report back to me. You will not regret it.

I have too much useless memorization in my head!
Remember that multiplication table song your math teacher taught you in 6th grade or the “Fifty Nifty United States” song you sang in Chorus? Remember that line from Rudy? Remember the words from that Spice Girls song? I do. And I can’t get it out of my head! So if you ever need someone to compete with you on “Don’t Forget the Lyrics!”, you know who to call!

I am in a co-dependent relationship with my sunglasses.
My sunglasses are always either on my eyes or on top of my head. My eyes are very sensitive to light (which, as you will learn about me, is also why I LOVE a space with warm, soft lighting!), so my sunglasses are practically an extension of me at this point!
